About the Event
Rafael Bejar
Born in Corpus Christi, Rafa is a 30 year veteran in the political field promoting democracy and accountable and responsible government on the local, state, federal and international level. Rafa has a well-rounded background having worked constituent service and legislative affairs with the Miami-Dade Board of County Commissioners in Florida; as a Press Secretary for a member of the U.S. Congress; and as National Hispanic Coalitions Director for the Republican National Committee. He has worked to strengthen democracy abroad through the International Republican Institute as the Resident Country Director for Peru and Mongolia. He joins the TPPF team from his previous position as Texas Regional Director of The LIBRE Institute where he focused on a variety of issues including the promotion of School Choice. Rafa has a Masters in Political Management from Graduate School of Political Management at The George Washington University where he also served as an Adjunct Professor teaching coalition building.
Michael Berlanga
Michael Berlanga is a native San Antonian born, raised and educated. Having attended St. Mary's University and UTSA, he holds a Masters in Professional Accounting with a concentration in taxes. He is dual licensed as a CPA and Real Estate Broker in the State of Texas. His passion for over 40 years is finding solutions in real estate, taxes, while representing clients in tax matters before both the IRS and County Appraisal Districts. Most recently, he has trained to be certified as a Property Tax Arbitrator and brings information and strategy to empowering Texas property owners protest values annually resulting in immediate relief. As President of the Christian Chamber of San Antonio and founder of the True Tax Center, his hope is to bring relief leading to reform ultimately at the State Legislature through educational seminars like these.
